During the May City Council meeting, Mayor Hartwick shared a heartfelt letter from Councilman Ty Kelso, announcing his resignation after an impressive 21 years of dedicated service to the City of Greenbrier. Effective as of the evening of May 5, 2025, Councilman Kelso’s departure marks the end of a long and impactful chapter in the city’s leadership.


In recognition of his many contributions, Mayor Hartwick presented him with a commemorative award, honoring his commitment and tireless service to the community. A motion to formally accept the resignation was made by Councilwoman Kelly Knowland, seconded by Councilman Larry Johnson, and approved unanimously by the council.


Throughout his two decades on the City Council, Councilman Kelso was known for his steady leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and deep commitment to the people of Greenbrier. From infrastructure improvements, and various projects he played a vital role in shaping the city's growth and ensuring the voices of residents were heard. The City of Greenbrier will greatly miss councilman, Ty Kelso.


A nomination to fill Councilman Kelso’s spot may be presented at the next Council meeting.
